The Gallery at the Luke presents The Red Thread

Picture
We have a new collection of art in the Gallery at the Luke.  We are excited to welcome the Red Thread which is a collective that features artists from America combined with the talents of artists from Haiti, Ethiopia, Kenya and South Vietnam.  From the Red Thread’s website:
Our mission is to combine American talents with those of Haiti, Ethiopia, Kenya and South Vietnam, to promote a self-sustainable life style that will continue for generations to come. Your patronage of our homemade, fair-trade, ethically sourced products here at The Red Thread allows the people of Haiti, Ethiopia, Kenya and South Vietnam to feed, house and educate their children.

We also provide a platform for local artists to share their talents with our community by providing a marketplace for their products and an event space for workshops. Our goal is to connect our community both here and around the world.

Susan Pettit, owner of The Red Thread, will be here for the closing of the exhibit in April and will be able to answer any questions about the artists and who the organization helps. The Red Thread is committed to helping people and any purchase of the artwork goes directly to that mission.

Gallery at the Luke

Picture
The art gallery began in 2016 when a group of artists at St. Luke's Church came together to display their work. Since then the gallery has grown to include local artists. Each month an artist creates a show, and often times, sponsors an Open House for the public. The media has varied to include collage, photography, quilts, jewelry, pencil, pastel, watercolor and oil. We are particularly interested in new artists who have never had a solo show entirely of their own work.

In addition, we hold several Paint & Wine Parties throughout the year to encourage budding artists and those who profess to have no ability to pick up a paint brush.

For information about the shows follow us on facebook.
All are welcome.
Gallery hours are Sundays from 8 am to Noon. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday hours from 9:30 am to Noon. All other hours by appointment.
